Welcome
My work consists of watercolour landscapes of the Derbyshire Dales: soft rolling hills, dramatic cliff faces and tree-filled towns. I generally choose vistas of the ‘less seen’ aspects of local places; looking at the way built environment sits within the landscape; the geometry and detail of man-made structures with the undulating, often green, organic hills. I aim to retain the integrity of the scene whilst responding in a sketched style; sometimes more descriptive. Painting often ‘in situ’ with a love of pattern and Chinese brush painting too.
